I graduated with a first in BSc. Zoology (Hons.) in 2019, and a distinction in an MRes. Evolution in 2020 from the University of Southampton.
Being fascinated by neurological evolution and development, my undergraduate thesis focussed on the reconstruction of a 125 million year old theropod dinosaur to determine behavioural adaptations to its environment.
For my MRes. thesis I recreated the brain evolution of extant primates in relation to diet and other physical attributes. This was in order to model how different lobes of the brain changed over time and subsequently learn how the primate brain has grown to be as intelligent as it is; both environmentally and behaviourally.
Both of these projects gave new insights into the evolution of the respective animal groups, and was a chance to add a new level of understanding to the subject.
These project allowed me to give a number of talks in locations such as the Oxford Natural History Museum on Prehistoric Behaviour, and at the Berkshire College of Agriculture.
I am currently a researcher at BBC Bristol helping develop a new landmark series.
Junior Researcher, BBC Bristol - Working on an exciting new landmark documentary series.
Earth Live Lesson - I gave a live talk on Charles Darwin and the Galapagos Islands on Lizzie Daly's YouTube Channel (more information can be found under "Talks and Lectures" page)
Berkshire College of Agriculture - spoke as a guest lecturer on the power of reading behaviour from brain anatomy; from prehistoric animals to current conservation.
Oxford Natural History Museum - invited as a guest speaker, talking about prehistoric behaviour
Natural History Museum, London - Wrote and presented a short documentary on the evolution of whales in the empty museum, hours before opening
Galapagos - collected valuable research on Darwin's Finches
Belize - Research within a remote jungle environment
Research Project (2018-19)- Theropod brain and behaviour reconstruction
President (2018-19), Natural History Society, University of Southampton (2018-2019)
Country File Live! - Public science communicator for the University of Southampton
Matryoshka Radio - Researcher and presenter for the radio show Natural Planet
President (2015-16), Moncrieff-Jones Society, Caterham School (Est. 1967 -the oldest school science society in the UK)
Having just completed my Masters of Research in Evolution, I am now working at the BBC Bristol as a researcher.
I am focussing on bringing to life some personal projects, as well as continuing to record Darwin's Black Book, an evolutionary podcast.
