Podcasts are a fantastic platform to connect to people. It enables a host to indulge common passions, discuss current topics and ramble about interesting things to the audience. They can then listen to such a ramble whenever they should wish to.
Starting in a radio position and being thrust into such a world, I have since learned a lot and felt it was only right to get back into the amazing world of research, writing and presenting a show, and ultimately connecting with your audience.
Additionally, getting into podcasting has benefited my public speaking and on-screen presenting immeasurably, allowing me to put more passion and love into the science and stories I am telling.
Here I have collected previous experience; from professionally broadcast Natural Planet, to the new Darwin's Black Book, an ongoing evolutionary podcast.
Should you have a minute or so, have a listen!
With an exceptional evolutionary biologist, I have been planning an exciting new podcast project - and now you get to listen to it!
A podcast about clearing up some of the messier bits of evolution, diving into the science and nature behind the theory as well as debunking a myth or two.
-CURRENTLY AIRING-
A new podcast about evolution, debunking scientific myths and the amazing, yet sometimes forgotten people behind such discoveries.
-2018-
A podcast of biological discussion. Three biologists and one biologist guest chat about some of the little known natural wonders on our planet.
-2017-
A Natural History radioshow for the kid's hour of Matryoshka Radio.
Both audio recordings and scripts available here.
Episodes of podcasts I have had the pleasure of being a guest on.
Darwin's Black Book is an exciting ongoing podcast about Evolution.
Co-hosted by myself and Rebekah White, an evolutionary biologist, we hope to explore lesser known topics in Evolution, uncover truths and dispel myths circulating about subjects in science and talk about some of the more forgotten heroes of biology.

A long form episode over 2 parts. In this episode I talk about the potential to bring back the Woolly Mammoth, and the realistic side of trying to bring back dinosaurs.
Available to listen on Spotify or any of the mentioned locations.
We look back in time to the roots and development of Darwin's idea. Looking at plenty of modern day examples as well as clearing up a misconception or two, this first episode takes a dive into the origin of the theory of natural selection.
Available to listen to on Spotify and GooglePodcasts.
We are thrilled to announce that the podcast has been awarded funding by the British Ecological Society. This funding has allowed for the purchase of recording equipment and enabled access to high quality sound libraries, making the episodes more immersive and professional.

What in the Wild is a short series looking into the weird and wonderful parts of nature, which very rarely gets talked about. Each episode the hosts (with a biological background) talk to a guest (without a biological background) about a specific question.
The topics vary from bacteria to evolved flight, each episode completely unique. Currently there is only one episode available, but the other 7 episodes will hopefully soon be available, right here.
Sit back, relax and absorb some whittling on about the natural world.
(As a side note, in the cover artwork I am the left hand character; yes, the one looking lovingly at the spider on my forehead)

Human impacts are often portrayed as destructive, however some people are actively seeking to increase the chances for a more sustainable future for humans. Here we discuss sustainable and upcoming technologies that may just save the world.
Guest: Jorge Trujillo Mateos
Natural Planet is a natural history programme for children, made for the award-winning London based radio broadcaster, Matryoshka Radio.
This was a show I wanted to span the world, reaching from the Origin of Life on our planet, to the mountains of Venezuela. From Penguins, to wolves and Tasmanian Devils. The episodes are short but hope give an informative insight into the amazing topics they cover.
Aired in 2017, this section was broadcast in children’s hour and in English. Half the episodes are in their final state in which they were aired while the others are in their edited, narration only format.
Wander through the archive and have a listen. There are a few available here with the transcripts of others.
It is my intention to compile these articles, extended and elaborated upon, to produce a single, illustrated book for young people with curious minds. 26 episodes were made, but extending that number to 30, with illustrations.
I hope you enjoy my first step into the world of professional presenting and radio.
All the episodes are available on SoundCloud

Life on Earth has a mysterious origin. Often debated and theorised on, with today's technologies we are started to unravel the story. The episode looks at the very start of life as we know it on our planet.
Version: As aired (music and narration)
Below I have included some of the scripts for Natural Planet, available to read at your discretion. They are unique ones, not seen in the available recordings above, just to make as much of the writing and information as available as possible.
These articles will be expanded upon and their numbers added to when compiled into a book for those young people wanting to know more about the natural world.
I was lucky enough to partake in a pilot episode of my friend and colleague's new podcast (Rob Knott: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCSQeWmg2m2AxSs-YDvDBLww) where he talks to scientists and science communicators about their work and their passions.
I talk about one of my favourite parts of biology; that of intelligence in other animals.
